We can help you heal your back through a special back care program developed by a team of medical professionals. EXERCISE is a proven program enabling you to become an active participant in your healthcare… and your life!
We will teach you the medically approved, gentle, healing exercises that are right for your individual back problems.
So what happens during the class?
You will be guided through a series of “poses,” or exercise positions that will facilitate the free and easy movement of your spine. You will also learn how to use your breath, not only for support in your exercises, but also for the benefit of relaxation. physiotherapist will be sure that you are moving properly in and out of the poses and that they are working optimally for you.
You will learn how to develop body awareness-this is a measure of your personal capabilities and/or limitations. Often times we injure ourselves simply because we’ve gone too far in an action or movement. This can happen both in exercise programs and everyday activities. Your PHYSIOTHERAPIST will make sure that you get the benefits of this special exercise program without “overdoing it.”
A more in-tuned self awareness will also help you recognize what your body’s limits are and how to work with them in your everyday life.
Will the Exercises be Safe for Me?
Two things can happen at the start of a fitness program:
If you have experienced traumatic injury, you may be fearful of exercise and avoid movements that cause stress and/or pain. A therapist will help identify your limitations so you can learn to move in new ways - safely and with confidence.
You may want to reach your goal as quickly as possible and be too demanding of your body during exercise. A therapist will help you identify and work with body awareness, so that preexisting conditions are not aggravated.
Even with the guidance of a certified therapist, you may experience slight muscle soreness after the first sessions. This is normal and may occur because you are exposing your muscles to new exercises and helping them develop in new ways.
Spine Care classes offer immediate pain relief, improved flexibility and range of motion and increased strength, stress reduction, relaxation, and medication-free pain control.
